Earthquake

Kim has been carrying out fieldwork in based in Jogyakarta, Indonesia, researching disaster response and opportunities for sustainable practice in emergency shelter, with the help of Dave Hodgkin (environmental housing and emergency shelter consultant, and former Masters student in the Human Ecology program). This research focuses on a case study of the use of bamboo in the transitional shelter program in the Jogyakarta earthquake response, 2006-2007.

This website is designed to share, discuss and document this research, which reflects a wealth of knowledge and experience of disaster management workers, NGO workers, bamboo experts, academics and others who have contributed to this particular exploration into the complexities of disaster management and its environmental implications.
